Okay, I admit it, I am absolutely obsessed with content featuring people’s everyday carry. I constantly watch EDC videos and read people’s EDC blog posts on Medium.

I guess it’s because I love tech and gadgets as well as discovering new ones!

That’s why in this blog post, I decided to share 6 awesome gadgets you need for your everyday carry in 2023.

Now, on a side note, in this article, I will only be featuring content that I don’t necessarily put in my bag, for that, I have a dedicated blog post here. The idea of this post is to talk about content that will fit in my pockets.

So without any further ado, here are 6 awesome gadgets for your everyday carry in 2023…

1. KeySmart Max

The KeySmart Max has got to be one of my favourites. It’s essentially a key organiser that keeps your keys tidy, organised and rattle-free!

The key selling point (no pun intended) of the KeySmart Max is that it has a built-in rechargeable Tile tracker, so if you’re like me and like to misplace your keys, it will easily help you locate them with the help of the Tile App.

The KeySmart Max also comes with a built-in torch and a Multitool, but you can add all sorts of accessories to it. I purchased the KeySmart Safe Box Cutter as I constantly find myself opening boxes, but there are tons of other useful gadgets and accessories you can buy for it on their website.

Overall, I think it’s a brilliant gadget to have in your everyday carry. My only complaints are that my version uses Micro-USB for charging and that it doesn’t notify me when the battery is low in the Tile App. But it’s nothing too serious.

2. USB Drive

The second thing I always tend to carry with me is a spare USB drive because you never know when you may need an extra bit of storage space, especially as a part-time content creator.

At present, I have a very basic mini USB drive by Integral attached to the rubber band of the KeySmart Max. However, I’m looking for something new, I want something that will fit inside of the KeySmart Max and that is USB-C only.

The reason is that at present I can only use the USB drive with my laptop, but I want to be able to use it with my Pixel 7 Pro which is the primary device I use to record videos for my YouTube channel.

OrbitKey do a pretty decent-looking USB drive for key organisers, but it’s not USB-C and after having a look on Amazon, I can see that SanDisk do a dual USB-C and USB-A drive but it just looks too bulky for the KeySmart Max.

3. Ekster Wallet

My favourite all-time wallet happens to be the Ekster Parliament wallet which I purchased in Nappa Black. I’ve had the wallet for a while now and I can honestly say that it was worth the purchase!

The wallet is slim and fits into my pockets very well. It features a card slider that can fit around 6 cards as well as two card pockets inside and a scanner card pocket at the back of the slider. A great feature if you use public transport.

The wallet itself offers RFID protection which I think is an essential feature for a wallet to have these days. For those of you who are unaware of what RFID protection is it’s basically a layer of carbon fibre or aluminium that blocks signals helping you protect your card and money. If your wallet doesn’t have this feature, you can purchase RFID-blocking cards to give you more protection.

Overall after using this wallet for almost two years, I still feel that it is my favourite wallet and best of all the quality is great, especially as it still looks brand new! My only complaint is that the cash band solution isn’t ideal if you live in the UK as it creates a crease in the plastic cash, yes we now have plastic cash in the UK, but that’s a different story.

4. Ekster Tracker Card

I paired my Ekster wallet with the Ekster Tracker Card which I think is an ideal solution for your wallet, especially if like me, you always forget where you put it.

The Ekster Tracker Card is powered by Chipolo, which has a pretty decent app which allows you to track the card as well as other Chipolo devices.

The main selling point of this card over the Tile, as well as Chipolo cards, is the fact that it has a rechargeable battery which can be charged using the built-in solar panel.

The solar panel solution works well providing you leave the card out to charge when it’s bright outside, ideally in the sunlight. I tend to leave it charging outside for the best results.

5. Google Pixel Buds Pro

My go-to wireless earbuds are the Google Pixel Buds Pro. Not only do they provide clear audio and decent bass, they also are packed full of useful features such as multi-point Bluetooth, which allows me to comfortably connect them to my laptop while also being connected to my phone.

I find this to be a perfect solution for work because if I’m working on my laptop and listening to music and a call comes in on my phone, I can simply tick it up without removing my earbuds or reconnecting Bluetooth.

Google also seems to be constantly keeping them updated, with the recent release of head tracking for spatial audio, they certainly sound like an attractive set of earbuds. However, in my view, I think that Google still has a lot of work to do in this department as I don’t think it’s as good as it is on the Apple AirPods Pro. Hopefully, we’ll see an improvement in a future version of the earbuds.

In terms of Active Noise Cancelling, I think that they’re great, especially if you commute a lot or work in busy environments like cafes. They definitely help me to switch off and just get on with my day. If we pair that with the transparency mode, I can comfortably order a coffee or have a conversation without needing to take the earbuds out of my ears.

6. Google Pixel Watch

I’ve been using the Google Pixel Watch as my everyday smartwatch for the majority of the year and I think it’s fair to say that it’s my favourite Android-based smartwatch!

I mean for starters, the watch looks absolutely stunning, especially with the stainless steel strap I got for it. it also feels comfortable to wear.

In terms of performance, I think the watch performs incredibly well and system lag tends to be a rare occurrence. I know that the watch uses an older chip, but it’s definitely not noticeable in everyday life.

In terms of battery life, I tend to get around 1 and a half days’ worth of battery out of the watch, which I think is very reasonable for smartwatches. Obviously, the battery life depends on how you use your watch and what apps you have running in the background. I consider myself to be a light user.

In terms of Fitbit integration, I think it’s nice to see that Google is finally making use of their acquisition, but so far I’m not impressed, especially after the removal of the social side of things. This includes open groups, challenges and adventures.

At present my favourite health app is Samsung Health, due to the fact that you can do challenges and they give you a board game where the more steps you do in a month the further you get in the game. I think that this is a brilliant approach to motivate you to get out more! It also gets addictive, but that’s another story.

Overall, I think it’s a great watch for everyday use. There will be a long-term review coming soon, so stay tuned!
