5 Things I Hate About My Pixel 6 Pro

Home » Blog » Google Pixel 6 Pro » 5 Things I Hate About My Pixel 6 Pro

The Google Pixel 6 Pro has been in my life for around 3 weeks so I decided to make a two-part video showing the things I hate about the phone and the things I love about it. The 5 Things I hate part is now live on my YouTube Channel  it can be found below…

Hopefully, you’ve enjoyed the video and subscribed to my YouTube channel! It took me a long time to choose the 5 things I hate about the phone, mainly because I like it, but I had to choose something. So in no particular order, here are 5 things I hate about the Pixel 6 Pro…

1. Fingerprint Recognition System

Initially, the fingerprint system on this phone was slow and inaccurate, which caused a stir online. I didn’t like it and many others didn’t like it either. However, after a recent update, this has changed. I know that it still feels slower than other phones but at least it seems to be more accurate now.

You have to remember that this is the first time that Google released a phone with the sensor inside of the screen as a pose to the back of the phone, one can only hope that this issue is fully resolved on the upcoming Pixel 7.

At present, I think the sensor works well, but I still think it’s slower compared to other phones.

2. Button Placement

Whilst the design of the phone is absolutely beautiful, I think that the buttons could be placed differently. As seen in the video, I have to twist the phone to press some of the buttons. It would be nice if the power button was placed on the opposite side and slightly lower just to make that experience better.

3. Slow Charging Speeds

The phone seems to take much longer to fully charge compared to other phones I’ve had. This could be due to the larger battery, but I would still expect a flagship to charge faster. What lets this phone down is the ultra-slow wireless charging. When I was daily driving the iPhone 12, I loved the fast wireless charging the phone provided and I kind of got used to it. However, the Pixel 6 Pro isn’t a phone I would default to wireless charging with.

4. At Glance Needs More Work

I’m a huge fan of the At Glance feature, however, I found that it was limited to the type of information i. As a frequent train user, I would love the widget to display what platform my train is leaving and even a quick access link to my train ticket through the Google Pay app. This is something I would love to see in future updates.

After posting this video, Google actually released an update which made the widget slightly more useful. It now displays that you have headphones connected and the battery battery percentage which I fid useful.

5. Camera App Crashes

One of the biggest annoyances I faced with the 6 Pro was the camera app constantly crashing, the app would go blank and the phone would freeze at times. Clearing the cache temporarily fixes the problem, but Google need to release an update that permanently fixes it.

In all seriousness, Google has released a camera app update and it hasn’t crashed as of yet, but the phone can get warm whilst recording videos for an extended period of time.

The Verdict

Whilst the phone obviously has issues, they are being fixed, therefore I would definitely recommend the phone! The issues I’ve faced with this phone are more of an annoyance and I know that they shouldn’t happen on a flagship but I don’t think it makes the phone unusable. I know that others have experienced more serious issues but, I definitely haven’t which is why I continue to use this phone.

Do you own a Pixel 6 or 6 Pro? What do you think about the phone? Have you had any issues I haven’t mentioned?
