Top 10 Tech Gadgets For The Summer Holidays In 2022!

Home » Blog » Summer » Top 10 Tech Gadgets For The Summer Holidays In 2022!

With the summer holidays and Prime Day fast approaching I decided to share some of my top recommendations for awesome tech and gadgets to get you through the summer and not only!

Most of the items I’m recommending are ones that I either use or have tested out myself. If you like anything featured in this post, be sure to use the Amazon Affiliate links as by doing so you will be supporting Tech With Dom.

Let’s get started…

GreenCell PowerPlay 20

The GreenCell Power Play 20 has been in my everyday carry for over a year and has been a solid choice. Not only does this robust power bank have the possibility of charging 3 devices at the same time, it also offers 18W power delivery. The power bank is said to provide 5 full charges for the iPhone 12 and 3.5 charges for the Samsung S20.

Not only has this power bank been a great purchase, but it has also been a lifesaver in many situations where I didn’t have access to a wall outlet.

Power banks in general are a great item to take with you on holiday. Whether you’re going site seeing or to the beach, it’s always handy to have one on you.

Sony WF-1000XM3

Sony WF-1000XM3 ANC Earbuds

If you are a fan of great sound quality combined with a decent level of active noise cancellation, the Sony WF-1000XM3s are a great choice. Not only are they currently half-price, but they look awesome too!

I’ve been using the XM3s for a while now and whilst I haven’t yet made a review on these, I can confirm that one is in the works.

Active Noise Cancelling earbuds are a great way to deal with being on a plane or even public transport as they cancel out the outside noise. Having them in earbud form also makes them easier to carry compared to overhear earphones.

If you are looking for a cheap GoPro alternative, look no further! The Akaso V50 Pro is an excellent selection, that I’ve personally been using for a long while now and I think it’s great!

In my early days on YouTube, I tested several budget-friendly action cameras and it’s easy to say that none of them has surprised me as much as the Akaso V50 Pro. It’s a great all-rounder, particularly if you are planning to use it only a few times a year.

I’ve actually recorded several videos for my YouTube channel using this camera and couldn’t be happier! The Zwings Scooter review is one of them.

Action cameras such as the Akaso are perfect for capturing those cool activities such as surfing, mountain biking and all sorts of other activities.

Amazon Kindle

If you are a fan of books, you’ll love the Amazon Kindle. Its size and weight make it perfect to take with you on the plane and anywhere you go really. It’s light enough to go in your handbag and small enough to fit inside a large pocket.

I’ve had many kindles in the past and I love how the screen makes it easy to read without the need of adjusting your brightness which you would do if you are on the beach with a standard tablet.

The overall experience is just so much better, particularly as it’s so portable. I can honestly say that a Kindle has been one of my best purchases in a long time.

Neos SmartCam

If you are either planning to go away this summer or just want to u the security in your home, Neos has your back. The Neos SmartCam is an awesome budget-friendly smart security camera that I personally use and recommend.

For £29.99 per camera, you certainly get a lot of pretty cool features, but most importantly of all peace of mind if you are planning to go away on holiday.

Neos SmartCam also works with Alexa so if you have one of those fancy Alexa’s with the display you can just ask it to show you a certain camera.

In terms of video quality, you can’t really expect much at that price, but the camera does record in 1080p and the overall picture quality is very reasonable. The camera also features night vision, 2-way audio as well as a cloud storage option.

Apple AirTag

If you are an iPhone user, I highly recommend getting a few AirTags, particularly if you are travelling by plane as you can put these in your luggage to make sure your bags actually leave with you.

However, in general, tourist attractions are hotspots for crime, so if your bag gets stolen, at least you can help the police track it down.

If like me, you’re not an iPhone user, then well I have yet to find a suitable solution. After using Tile, Chiplolo and a handful of others I can only hope that the rumoured Huawei Tag will be the solution.

Wired Earbuds

It’s also a good idea to take a spare set of wired earbuds with you in the event that your wireless ones run out of charge. Just make sure that they actually fit in your phone, you may need to buy lightning or USB-C to 3.5mm jack adapter for them to work.

It’s been a while since I used wireless earbuds, but one that I always liked is the House of Marley Smile Jamaica earbuds. There’s just something about that wooden finish I absolutely love. They sound and look great too!

Mains Power Brick

If you are planning to go on holiday to Europe, you’ll love this Anker 4-port power brick with interchangeable pins. This is a product I use heavily both at home and when I travel. Although I may have to get another one as I seem to have misplaced my European pin adapter.

This particular power brick is capable of up to 27W and is perfect for charging all the gadgets we take on holiday with us

VPN

Whilst I’m not affiliated with Dashlane, as an IT professional, I highly recommend investing in Dashlane. Not only does it come with a VPN but it also keeps all your passwords secure and it will let you know if any of your passwords have been leaked online. It also features a secure password generator which fills in forms automatically so you don’t even have to remember your passwords.

However, the reason I’m recommending it is due to the fact that it comes with a VPN (Virtual Private Network). A VPN works by routing your internet connection through your chosen private server instead of the internet service provider. This may be in a different country, which will allow you to watch UK content abroad.

However, the main reason that I’m recommending it is that in no doubt you will be connecting to public WiFi hotspots which are far less secure compared to your work or home networks, a VPN will help keep you and your data safe.

Still not convinced? Check out my post on why you need a VPN

Jam Hang Up Bluetooth Speaker

My final recommendation in this post is the Jam Hang Up Bluetooth Speaker. Not only is this one of my favourite travel speakers, but it is also packed with some nifty features such as the Stick Pad. The speaker also has a strap which you can use to hang the speaker up and is waterproof!

I’ve had my Jam Hang Up for quite a few years now and it never let me down. Not only does it sound great but the sticky pad at the back still works!

It’s also the ideal size to put in your bag or even pocket. A truly valuable purchase!
