My Everyday Tech Carry — Autumn 2024

I know I’ve said this hundreds of times before, but I’m a massive fan of everyday carry (EDC) content, especially when it comes to everyday tech and gadgets.
I don’t know what it is about discovering new tech, gadgets and accessories, but I find it fascinating!
With that being said, it’s been a while since I posted my last everyday tech carry, so I decided it was about time I post an updated version…
iPhone 14 Pro Max

Like in my last everyday carry article, I am still using the iPhone 14 Pro Max as my main smartphone with the Mous Limitless 5.0 case.
I think that the Mous Limitless 5.0 is a brilliant case, and I’ve used this model with my previous smartphone, the Google Pixel 7 Pro.
Not only has the case enabled my Pixel 7 Pro to survive a mountain bike accident, but both cases have also helped my phones survive several falls. Overall, a highly recommended case!
I do kind of miss the Google experience from the Pixel 7 Pro, but I am satisfied with the iPhone 14 Pro Max and based on my usage I don’t yet see the need to upgrade to a newer model.
I know that cool AI features are on the way, but in all fairness, I’m not sure whether I’ll use them enough to justify upgrading my phone. Furthermore, I find it disappointing that Apple has decided not to include Apple Intelligence on older models.
Apple Watch Series 9 Cellular

The newest addition to my everyday tech carry is the Apple Watch Series 9 cellular, which I took out with my mobile provider around three months ago.
I never had a cellular smartwatch before, even though I had many various smartwatches in the past ten years, so I decided it was about time I gave one a go.
My first week with the Apple Watch Series 9 cellular went smoothly. However, initially from the user perspective, I didn’t see any major differences between the Series 9 and my previous Apple Watch, the Apple Watch SE 1st generation.
However, I was quickly reminded of the fact that this watch was cellular when I left my phone at home to go to the local shops. I have to admit, that was pretty cool and for the first time in a long time, I felt that my experience of using a smartwatch felt full.
Although it’s been around 3 months since I started using the watch, I think that it’s early days before I decide whether the investment was worth it. Mainly as I still tend to take my phone with me most of the time. But I might have a better idea in my 6-month review.
AirPods Pro 2nd generation

Just like in my last EDC blog post, the AirPods Pro 2nd generation are still my go to everyday earbuds and I honestly can’t live without them.
Not only do they sound great for my taste in music, but the battery lasts long, and they have some outstanding features such as a built-in speaker in the case which can help me find my earbuds when I misplace them.
As someone who commutes to and from the office on a weekly basis, I have four requirements when it comes to earbuds. These are decent active noise cancellation (ANC), decent transparency mode, good sound quality, and they must be comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
The AirPods Pro 2nd generation fit those requirements extremely well.
In terms of upcoming features, I am excited about the update that will bring the hearing test feature. I genuinely think that this will be a game-changing feature that will actually help people. But only time will tell.
With the AirPods, I still use the AhaStyle Clear case (Affiliate Link), which is minimal and allows me to see the product whilst protecting it. The description of the case on Amazon states that it’s “Anti-Yellowing”. I’ve had this case for a while and can confirm that it hasn’t yet got yellow, which is fantastic.
Apple AirTag

I’ve tried many trackers such as the Tile Mate, Chipolo and the Samsung SmartTag, but out of all of these, my favourite is still the AirTag. I guess it all comes down to the app and the traceability.
AirTags can be helpful in so many ways, from finding your keys or your wallet as you are about to leave for work, to being able to track your luggage at the airport.
When going away earlier this year, I put an AirTag inside my checked luggage to ensure that it made it on to the plane. I was able to see it with me on both the outgoing and the return flight. I think that’s remarkable!
I also use AirTags with my bicycle, especially my commuting one, as that’s the one I tend to take with me when commuting to and from the train station.
Pitaka PitaTag Keychain

To pair with the AirTag, I use the Pitaka PitaTag (Affiliate link) keychain which is an awesome AirTag holder and multi-tool.
It features a slot-type screwdriver, a cross screwdriver, a 2.0-caliber Allen key and a pocket knife ideal for opening letters and boxes.
As an IT engineer, I find this tool extremely useful, as it enables me to do a part of my job even if I don’t have a screwdriver in my pocket.
I’ve had the Pitaka PitaTag for a while now and based on my experience with it so far, not only has it proven to be useful, but it also looks cool on my keys.
ESR Magnetic Wallet (HaloLock)

I don’t tend to carry my main wallet with me unless I really need to. I guess it’s all because it’s bulky and the fact that I don’t like the idea of carrying all of my cards with me.
Instead, I use the ESR Magnetic Wallet (Affiliate link) which allows me to carry my spending card, my driving licence and a few business cards. The wallet allows you to carry three cards, which, I think, is fantastic.
With the help of the magnet, I can attach it to the back of my phone and turn it into an awesome stand for watching videos on the train or participating in meetings. When in the office, I like to turn my phone into an awesome desk clock using the Standby feature on my iPhone. This works by connecting the phone to a charger and putting it landscape on the ESR Magnetic wallet.
I’ve had this wallet for a while, and it still looks brand new, which just goes to show the quality of the accessory.
Final Thoughts
My everyday tech carry hasn’t changed much over the last couple of months, but I guess that’s a good thing. It proves to me that the purchases I made have been worth it and that I haven’t had the need to look elsewhere.
After having a long think about it, I don’t think I’m ready to replace my iPhone 14 Pro Max this year. But if it starts showing any signs of wear, I will most likely look at replacing it with the latest model this time next year.
The only new addition I am considering is a key organiser, but I haven’t really decided whether I should go with another KeySmart organiser or an OrbitKey instead. Having owned products from both brands in the past, I know that they both offer great products.
