Last Minute Tech Gift Ideas 2024
Christmas is just three days away at the time of writing this article, and let’s face it—time is running out! The festive season can be hectic, especially in those final days leading up to Christmas. Trust me, as a former retail employee, I know exactly how chaotic it can get.
That’s why I’ve put together this handy guide to help you find some fantastic last-minute tech gift ideas.
In this article, you’ll find recommendations for gifts that work perfectly as stocking fillers or main presents. So, without further ado, here are my top picks for last-minute tech gifts…

1. Amazon Echo
Amazon Echo devices make great gifts, especially since you can use them to expand your smart home. So if the recipient of the gift already has an Echo device, they can have a second one for another room.
At the time of writing this article, the newest Echo Dot costs around £26.99, which is a great price considering the fact that they usually retail for around £50 according to PriceSpy.
If you’re after something smaller and cheaper, the Amazon Echo Pop is a great alternative and makes a great stocking filler. At the time of writing this article, the Eco Pop is available for £18.99 on Amazon.
If you’re looking for something bigger and better, The Echo Show 8 is a great alternative. Not only does it have a screen, but the sound quality is considerably better than the smaller devices.
2. Tapo Smart Plug
Since we’re already talking about smart home accessories, I wanted to add the Tapo Smart Plug to the list. Not only does this make a great stocking filler, but I also think that it’s a very practical gift.
Apart from the fact that you can use the plug to control devices within your house, it also works with Alexa and Hey Google. It also has energy monitoring, and you can set up schedules within the Tapo app, which is a nice touch.
Smart plugs can be used for all sorts of things, such as turning bedside tables on or off, turning the radio on in the kitchen, or even saving money on electricity. For example, I have some form of a smart plug controlling most of my devices, and when I leave the house, I have a routine that will turn all the unnecessary devices off.
The possibilities with smart plugs are endless, and out of all the ones I tried, I think I prefer the TP Link Tapo ones the most. Best of all, no hub is required!
3. BenQ ScreenBar Pro
If the person you are buying a gift for works from home, the BenQ ScreenBar Pro is an excellent choice. It’s basically a light bar that sits on top of your computer monitor and provides you with ultra-wide illumination.
I’ve been using the ScreenBar Pro for around 4 months, and based on my experience with it so far, I think that it is a fantastic device with some fantastic features that set it apart from other devices.
Starting with the clamp design, it’s designed so that if your monitor has a built-in webcam, it won’t cover it up. The cable also comes out from underneath the clamp so that it’s easier to hide cables away.
The clamp also features a sensor that detects motion and will automatically turn off after five minutes of absence, perfect for when you need to grab a coffee. The sensor also provides a real-time auto-dimming feature that provides you with the recommended illuminance.
4. Soundcore Liberty 4 NC
The Soundcore Liberty 4 NC are one of my all-time favourite earbuds. Not only do they sound great, they have incredible Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and transparency mode.
I’ve tested many wireless earbuds and headphones for my blog and YouTube channel, but the Soundcore 4 NC remains as some of my favourites. Not only that, but they are also my previous everyday drivers.
As someone who commutes on a weekly basis, they cope incredibly well with loud trains and cafes; they also cope well when travelling by plane, which makes them ideal for travel.
The case is possibly by far one of the nicest cases I ever had for earbuds, with lights inside the case and a light on the outside. The case also feels great, and I like the button mechanism where when you press the button, the case opens, which is a nice touch.
5. JBL GO 4
I’ve owned many Bluetooth speakers over the years, but the JBL GO series are possibly my favourite. Not only are they the perfect size for travel, they sound great, and the newer versions of this speaker are rugged.
The current version is the JBL GO 4 and while I haven’t tried this version yet, I have the original and the GO 3, both of which sound fantastic.
According to JBL, the GO 4 has up to 7 hours of playtime, but the GO 3 only has up to 5 hours. The GO 4 can also be paired with multiple speakers, which is a pretty cool feature, especially if you want to play music in a larger room.
6. Pitaka PitaTag for Multi-tool
If the person you are buying a gift for is an Apple user, the Pitaka PitaTag is a fantastic AirTag accessory.
The Pitaka PitaTag is an AirTag holder that you can attach to your keys. It features a Flathead screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, an Allen key and a plastic knife ideal for opening boxes.
As someone who works in IT, I seriously find this tool useful for when I don’t have a screwdriver on me or for when I need to open a box.
I also find it useful for when I misplace my keys, as I am able to find them using the AirTag I have inside.
While the AirTag is not included with the PitaTag, an AirTag still makes an ideal separate gift.
Final Thoughts
While I can’t guarantee that the products I mentioned in this list will be in stock by the time you order, they still make great gifts, and many of these can be purchased in local stores if they are out of stock online.
Let me know which ones are your favourites from this list, if you purchased any, or your recommendations in the comments below.
