A Day in the Life: 5 Gadgets I Use Every Single Day
Every day, I wake up, drink coffee, and go through my morning routine before heading out to work.
Sounds familiar, right? As someone who works a 9-to-5 job, my routine hasn’t changed much over the last few years, but the tech and gadgets I use certainly have.
The devices I’m about to share have become essential in making my day more efficient and enjoyable. From the moment I wake up to the time I go to bed, these gadgets play a crucial role in my daily life.
But this article isn’t just about the gadgets I use, I also wanted to share my daily routine along with tips that help me stay productive and get the most out of the tech I use.
So without any further ado, here are 5 gadgets I use every single day…
1. Benks 3-in 1 Charging Stand
My morning starts with an early morning wake-up alarm. I tend to use my Apple Watch Series 9 as an alarm because I like the gentle way it wakes me up. As I use a sleep schedule, my iPhone, or Apple Watch wakes me up at 6 am every single day.
What I really like about using the sleep schedule feature is that if the battery runs out on my watch during the night, it will ring on my phone instead.
Speaking about batteries running out, I keep to a charging routine that helps me get the most out of my smartwatch and other devices. It all starts with waking up and putting my watch and phone on charge.
I currently use the Benks 3-in-1 magnetic Charging Stand which allows me to charge my Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods Pro wirelessly.
While my devices are charging, I go downstairs to make coffee and go through the rest of my morning routine. This either includes getting ready to head out to the office or, if I’m working from home, creating some content before starting work.
By the time I’m ready to head out or start making content, both my watch and phone are usually fully charged.
If my iPhone has a low battery percentage, I tend to plug it in via fast-charger so that I can get a full day’s use out of the phone.
2. Amazon Echo
The second gadget I wanted to share is my Amazon Echo’s which I use throughout the day. But since we’re talking about my morning routine, I wanted to talk more about how Alexa is helping me start the day.
When I’m making coffee and my breakfast, I like to use my morning routine, which I’ve set up in the Alexa app. This routine starts with the wake work “Good Morning”, Alexa will respond with Good Morning, and it will tell me the weather, my calendar events, it will tell me the news and report traffic.
I find this pretty useful as it helps me remember all the events I have throughout the day, the weather and the latest news.
Apart from that, I use Amazon Eco’s to play music, listen to the radio and for checking the weather before heading out.
When working at my desk, I have an Amazon Echo Show 5 underneath my monitors, that allows to listen to music or the radio in the background.
I also use my Echo Show devices to respond to my Ring Doorbell. This works great when I’m unable to answer my door or when I want to avoid unnecessary trips downstairs. I know that this sounds terrible, but we’ve recently had many sales people knock on our door trying to sell things I don’t need.
3. Apple Watch Series 9
I’ve used many smartwatches over the years, but in terms of smart features, app availability and other features, I think that my favourite smartwatch has got to be the Apple Watch.
Around 3 months ago, I upgraded my ageing Apple Watch SE to a cellular Apple Watch Series 9 and based on my experience with it so far, I am thrilled with the upgrade.
Throughout the day, I use my smartwatch for all sorts of things, I’ve already mentioned that I use it as my alarm clock for waking up in the morning. Once it’s charged, I also user it to track my morning workout. That could be a weight lifting session or my morning walk or cycle ride to the train station.
The Apple Watch has also become my default payment method. Whether it’s buying a coffee at the train station or picking up a few snacks for the train at my local shop.
I’ve set a Work Focus profile on my phone that changes the watch face on my watch to include my calendar and other useful information. That way, every time I check my watch, I can keep up to date with the events. This helps me ensure that I attend meetings on time and helps me manage my time better throughout the day.
I also use my Apple Watch to view notifications throughout the day. This helps my reduce screen time on my phone while keeping up to date with important notifications.
4. AirPods Pro 2nd generation
My current go to and arguably favourite earbuds are the AirPods Pro 2nd generation which have been my daily drivers since the beginning of the year.
I love these due to their superb sound quality, excellent active noise (ANC) and features.
As someone who commutes every week, they are great for switching off and emerging yourself in music or a good audiobook. The ANC blocks out all the surrounding noise, so whether you are travelling on a busy train or are drinking coffee in a busy café while trying to work, they work great.
As the railway lines aren’t electrified in my area, I like to test ANC at my local train station as when a diesel powered train starts up it can be extremely loud, particularly with the older trains. It’s safe to say that the AirPods Pro 2nd generation cope well in blocking out the noise and I can nearly hear the departing train.
It may sound like a gimmick to some, but I’m a big fan of the fact that there is a speaker built into the case as it allows me to find my AirPods easily when misplaced.
In terms of upcoming features, I am excited to try out the new hearing health features. I think that this is a great example of how technology can be used to help people in their everyday lives.
5. iPad Pro
Last on the list is my iPad Pro. I have an older iPad Pro, specifically the 2020 11-inch model, which I honestly can’t live without. I use it for so many things, from writing blog posts to reading books to research and note-taking.
When working from home, I like to have my iPad Pro underneath my monitors. It acts as a great device for watching tutorials on YouTube and reading guides and documentation.
When working on my MacBook Air, it proves to be excellent as a third monitor. I don’t use this option all the time, as I’m perfectly happy with two monitors, but sometimes it’s nice to have that third monitor option.
The iPad Pro tends to be the main device I use when away from my desk. As an example, I’m currently sitting on the train writing this section of the blog post. The tray table isn’t large on this train, but it fits my iPad and coffee cup perfectly.
My iPad Pro tends to be my primary note-taking device, I use the Apple Pencil combined with the PaperLike screen protector for taking notes, and it works extremely well.

As a tech enthusiast, I’m constantly exploring new gadgets, but these five have become the main gadgets I use every single day.
