Ideal for those seeking affordable headphones!

I don’t tend to go on TikTok very often, but the last time I went on the app, my feed was filled with people talking about various headphones from Baseus.

I’ve never owned a product from Baseus before, but I’ve heard good things about the brand, so I decided to buy the most common model I saw, the Baseus Bowie H1i.

I paid £27.96 for these headphones, and I was surprised to see how fast these were delivered to me in the UK, the postage only took a few days, which is a huge thumbs up from me.

But are they worth it?

The Unboxing

Considering the price, I wasn’t expecting to see anything special with the unboxing experience.

They arrived in a stylish, but basic box and inside is a basic plastic frame for the headphones and accessories. For headphones in this price range, this tends to be the standard approach for packaging.

Inside the box, there is a short USB-A to USB-C charging cable as well as a braided AUX lead, which is a nice touch. But the thing with that is that not many phones tend to have AUX these days, so you may need an adapter. But it’s great for people who like to have that as an option.

Personally, I always carry an adapter, just in case I forget to charge the headphones I’m using.

Overall, I think that the unboxing experience was pretty average.

Audio Quality

When it comes to audio quality, we all have our preferences and what may sound great for some, may sound terrible to others.

I like my audio to be clear so that I can clearly hear the instruments, but I also want to have a decent amount of bass.

I find that the Baseus Bowie H1i delivers clear audio and is good for vocals. I’ve listened to various genres of music as well as vocals and I honestly like how clear the audio sounds.

When it comes to bass, I wouldn’t say that they have a lot of bass, but they have enough for a basic set of headphones at that price range. I find that some songs have good bass, whereas others can sound a bit tinny.

In terms of volume, I wish that they were louder, but I wouldn’t say that they’re quiet. One thing I have noticed, and I’m not sure if it’s just this particular set, is that the audio can sound tinny on some songs at full volume.

Moving on to active noise-cancelling (ANC), I think that these are the cheapest ANC headphones I’ve ever seen. Considering the price, the ANC is okay, but they can’t compare to the ANC on more expensive models.

The microphone quality isn’t great, but it’s average with wireless headphones at this price range.

Style, Design, Build Quality and Comfort

The Baseus H1i headphones certainly don’t disappoint when it comes to style and comfort.

They offer a modern style and they have a premium look. I would even say that they don’t feel as cheap as they are.

I’ve tried more expensive headphones in the past that looked and felt considerably cheaper. But as a whole, they do feel like budget headphones.

In terms of comfort, I think they are light and comfortable to wear even for people who wear glasses.

The headphones have a slider for enabling and disabling ANC as well as 3 buttons on the other ear cup for controlling volume, power as well as other functions.

That makes them a great choice for people who prefer buttons to gesture control.

The one thing I don’t like about these headphones is that they don’t have a voice which confirms whether the device is in pairing mode. Instead, they just beep and have a little LED light near the USB-C port.

The App

The Baseus H1i headphones are compatible with the Baseus app which can be downloaded by scanning the QR code on the box or by searching for Baseus in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Upon launching the app, it asks whether I want to log in to an account or continue in guest mode. I like that it’s not forcing me to sign up for an account.

The app itself has a clean interface and looks presentable. I like that it has a built-in equaliser as it helps improve the sound quality, especially if you like to have boosted bass. It also features the Baseus store.

But besides that, it’s a very basic app.

The Verdict

To summarise this review, I think that the Baseus Bowie H1i headphones are ideal for someone who is looking for a pair of reasonable headphones at an affordable price.

I also think that they are great for people who are looking for a secondary pair of headphones for work, the gym and outdoor use.

I believe that they are perfect for people who sound quality isn’t a priority, but saying that, I think they sound pretty good considering the price.

Let’s face it, with headphones at this price range, we can’t expect any miracles, especially when they already have features like ANC and Hi-Res Audio.

But, based on my overall experience, I can definitely recommend them to anyone looking for budget headphones.
